Yesterday was a very fun Fourth. I didn’t go to the anvil firing, but I did attend the pancake feed. Isn’t that a funny thing to call it? Not a “pancake breakfast” or a “pancake fundraiser”. It’s called a “pancake feed”. Ha!
Anyway, after the pancake feed, I watched teams of firefighters do a “push-of-war” contest with fire hoses. The mist felt nice. Right next to that was a pole vault competition. Spiderman was there:
I walked the town square to look at the crafts. Nothing caught my fancy, so I didn’t buy anything. I took a break, then went to the Civic Center to see my niece singing in a chamber choir. The room was packed, and it was HOT! I at least got to listen to the group, but I could not see Alicia. My view was of the audience. Several of my family members were visible:
The parade was a lot of fun. We yelled and got everyone’s attention as usual. We also counted Czech queens. This year they were all lined up in succession. I couldn’t count them AND take pictures, so I only got a picture of the first one:
The day ended with a spectacular fireworks show. There were fireworks in shapes! I was astounded. I saw a flower, a star, and a cube. Exceptional!
The cube was amazing! I have to wonder about the person who came up with that – I imagine some wizened man hand-crafting it in his hut, but in reality it w probably a robot, huh?
There was one succession of fireworks that was so loud and so bright that I saw my skeleton.

Reminds me of the beginning of the pyrotechnics for the Capitaol Fourth on last night – so bright, it “bled out” the camera temporarily more than once.
Indeed that was funny! You funny Deborah!
I’ve seen fireworks in shapes before & they are spectacular! Last night we just had a home show but they were really good.
And why did Spiderman need the pole?
He was going to play fair, I imagine, Peggy – but truth be told I had to ask myself the same question….
Public Service Announcement to follow:
If you can’t be in Seward for the 4th, try the Flight 93 memorial outside Shanksville, PA, in the National Park off Route 30 – very reverent and awe-inspiring in its own way. Worth the dogleg off the turnpike, I believe.
