Party Night

Last night was a Settlers of Catan night. We had quite a spread of food. I will begin by saying how excited I was to be eating my favorite cheeses in the world: Jarlsberg, and aged Gouda. Jarlsberg is creamy and tastes sort of like Swiss cheese. Aged Gouda is really strong-tasting and delicious. I like to let it melt in my mouth like candy.
Mmm... so tasty...

We also had other delicious snacks. Lloyd laid out a huge spread:
Many savory selections.

Lloyd also asked Lauren to help him make one of the most delicious party snacks I’ve ever had: Little Smokies wrapped in bacon and sprinkled with brown sugar. They were SO good! I wanted to eat the entire pan, but I was trying to be polite, so I only ate seven of them.
Smoky and sweet... Mmm...

The game itself went really well. We were all receiving a lot of cards, so we could always do something when it was our turn. It was nice. Charles won. It was his second time ever. Yay!
This was the center of my orange kingdom. I called it Bradania.

I’m pretty sure those little smokies in bacon might have been served at the Last Supper. At least, the combined sodium content might have made it the final dinner for more than a few folk – yikes!! At least ya’d’ve gone out happy, no?

Say, I do believe there is a Junior version of this game available (now); saw one at B&N the other day. So nice to see the tradition can easily be continued across the generations as a result; would be a shame to lose it, no? [My maternal grandmother taught me a board game she used to play in The Olde Country with two sets of nine (?) buttons (what real folk use for playing pieces when plastic molded imitations are not available to them) where you have to maneuver them to get three in a row and remove them – lose them all and you are really the winner. Anybody ever play that one? She called it Muelle, I believe.]

I wish that 1st picture was blurry…it activated my gag reflex.

But the little smokies look great! What do you call them? Pigs in a Pig?

    Nice job Lloyd!

An aversion to cheese, eh? How do I not remember that about you??

Note to Lauren … Peggy HATES cheese and Peggy LOVES salt.

I wonder why no one has ever come out with a Cheese flavored gum??? (Ack)
