Normalizing

I spent yesterday getting myself back to normal. I did not wake up feeling damp from humid air and sweat. I did not eat a granola bar for breakfast. I did not have to roll my bed up into a lump and carry it on my back for ten miles.

I spent some time yesterday cleaning up my hiking stuff, but spent most of my time enjoying air conditioning and soft surfaces. I read, I watched TV, I strolled in the garden. It was lovely. But my favorite part was food. I really, really, really missed milk. If I went hiking again, I would most certainly bring powdered milk with me. Mmm… milk… I had it on cereal, I drank it straight, and for dinner, I had it with grilled cheese. I LOVE milk! Plus, all this milk has really helped settle the acid stomach I had developed the last couple of days while I was hiking.

Now that I'm posting this picture, I'm thirsty again.

Ha! I’m picturing you on the trail eating powdered milk straight, like flax seed.

So, when you watch The Lord Of The Rings again, will you make mental comparisons between their packs and yours? Don’t they just have knives and blankets?

What is this “If I went hiking again” nonsense?! You are not the quickest study in the world, are you?

Glad your milk had not turned while you were away – I know this is a frequent irritation. In fact, I thought of you the other day when I poured milk into a coffee mug, turned away just long enough to put the milk back in the refrigerator, and then saw coagulated whey (?) floating in my now-undrinkable coffee. And the “drink by” date hadn’t come yet…of course…

[Now I want a grilled cheese sandwich with cold milk, too. Dang, I only just had banana bread for breakfast; must…wait…]

… roll my bed up into a lump and carry it on my back for ten miles. Haha!!

And I agree with you on the milk! I drink milk straight every day. In fact, with my recent stumble…..everyone said that all the milk I drink surely saved me from breaking something.
