Day Trip

I went to Ocean City yesterday! Denis had the day off from work, and wanted to do something unusual with the extra time. I was a little nervous because the weather report was for thunderstorms all day long. But it’s a nice drive, and there are stores there that we could duck into if needed, so off we went.

The sky was cloudy on the drive there, but the sunlight kept breaking through. Once we got to Ocean City, the sun was bright and hot. Uh-oh. I wasn’t expecting sun. I was going to get burned! I got some over-priced sunscreen and covered my head and arms. Then it got cloudy and sprinkled. Then the sun came out again. Sheesh!

I didn’t end up getting in the water because of the possibility of rain, but we did walk a large chunk of boardwalk. I got some Fisher’s Carmel Corn. Mmm…

To give an idea of how weird the weather was, these two pictures were taken one after the other:

CLEAR:
There were people in the water. I should have gone in.

CLOUDY:
It was very breezy.

So does water falling from the sky offend but water found in moving bodies on the planet not offend, ‘cuz it would seem to me that being in the ocean while it was raining would only guarantee one more room on the beach. (But, then, the beach towel would be soggy, no? Good point…) Glad you got to go, Brad. Kim got to go. Everybody got to go this summer ‘cept……..oh, well. It’ll still be there next time, I suppose; I doubt the shoreline erosion will cause all of OC to go away before I find time to visit it next. Will it? :-/

Yeah, I seem to remember that Ocean City was the big vacation destination out there. I should explore it online – is it an actual city, or something like Coney Island?

Weird weather, by the way. I like that it looks so ominous.

I will get to the beach on a sunny day. I will get to the beach on a sunny day. I will get to the beach on a sunny day.
