Exercise

I’ve decided to exercise. I tried to renew my old membership at Bally’s, but as it turns out, my membership has been Revoked. It’s a serious condition. A Revoked membership is permanently disabled, with no chance of revival. So I started checking into my options. I could get a new membership at Bally’s (which is now L.A. Fitness), but Debbie told me about a place that was really cheap. Ironically, she read about it in some junk mail that came to her house that I have stopped receiving because I unsubscribed.

Anyway, the place is called Fitness 19. I think it’s a really interesting business model. It’s just cardio machines, weight machines, and free weights. There is no pool or tanning or even locker rooms. You just go there, exercise, and leave. And it’s cheap! And there is a place really close to me in the Parkville Shopping Center. It just opened in June, so they’re having a special right now, and I’m able to lock my month-to-month membership at $12! For as long as I want! Holy cow!

So my plan is to get up early, walk to the gym, lift weights, walk home. I tested the walk yesterday. It takes 30 minutes to walk there. I don’t know how long I’ll continue spending an hour walking there and back each day, but for someone who has lots of time to burn, it seems like a pretty good use of an hour.

There are so many interesting things along Harford Road. None of them are in this picture.

That Debbie – always finding the lower-priced goodies. Good for you both! This is a rock-bottom price, and if you can actually lock that in “for evuh”, why wouldn’t you go? In fact, I think if you continue to walk there and back they ought to let you use their stuff gratis, but that’s just me.

I’m now struggling with whether to re-up at the Y at the end of the month. Those early mornings up and out make the rest of the day gosh awful long, and just to get a pool experience in a few times/week doesn’t really seem worth it to me any more. (What does someone we know often say – “Sleep wins”?) Might hit Planet Fitness with the better half some day and see if the treadmill and recumbent (sp?) bikes there do the trick, as I’m already included in that membership automatically. Ah, we elderly – always seeking ways to remain mobile…

Ha! Your opening sentences brought me back to CPR training – ” No breathing! No pulse! It’s been Revoked – call 911!” It’s your loss, L.A. Bally’s. Your. Loss.

Walking to your fitness center is genius, too. I always thought I could do a lot of walking if I could just get someone to drop me off somewhere far from home.

Lauren, that is actually quite genuis! I think I might try this. Now to find someone to drop me off every day!

Peggy, last time I looked you didn’t live all that close to where you’re working now……..just a thought. You’d have to leave the ngiht before, though, I fear, to avoid chronic tardiness. Never mind then.

You go Brad!! And with exercising in the morning, you’ll be all reved up for the rest of the day. You’re plan is perfect.

My idea of exercise is a good brisk sit.

What on earth did you do to get your membership Revoked? I thought I heard that was only for people who peed in the swimming pool…

Hehe… The credit card they were charging my monthly dues to expired. Two years ago. Apparently, they give you 90 days to fix something like that, then they Revoke you.
