Tiled Out

I’ve cut my last tin ceiling tile. For now. I have been procrastinating in regard to the final piece. It was complicated. Not only did I have to cut part of the square tile away, I also had to cut notches for two pipes. If any of my cuts were off, the tile wouldn’t fit right. I started with a cardboard template. I traced the outline on the tin and slowly snipped with the tin snips. This single tile took me two hours. Ack!
It looks like modern art.

And here it is in its proper place:
I still need to paint the grid to match the tiles.

So the tiles are done. I did accidentally cut a hole in two tiles instead of one (they were stuck together). I will have to order another tile to replace the cut one. I also have a border piece that doesn’t fit as tightly as I’d like, so while I’m paying for shipping anyway, I’ll get another border tile too.
The light fixture will go in the nearer hole. The farther hole is the mistake tile.

Wow – that was a complicated cut! My hat’s off to you for doing it so well! The whole thing looks really nice.

By the way, I say just keep that tile with the extra hole and put one of those fake security cameras there to freak people out. Harbor Freight has ’em cheap.

OK, you’ve sold me. You are the uncrowned king of DIY home repair. So now how are you at fixing windows whose side chains/strings have sprung/broken? We have two at our house that have been “sick” for years and I thought, “Wonder if Brad’s looking for another project?” Just throwing the idea out there…we’d make it worth your while in, say, Peeps! Just sayin’…
