Singing

Last night was choir practice at church. I have perceived practice differently since I haven’t been working. I don’t feel as tired, so I’m enjoying it more. And I love being with my choir-mates. We laugh a lot. I have had some trouble in the past with my voice breaking or fading out, but lately it’s been pretty strong. Maybe it’s because I’m speaking less during the day. My voice is still pretty worn out by the end of practice though.

Our Lessons and Carols service is this Sunday. Some of our songs are accompanied by organ, so we met in the balcony last night. It was echo-y and fun. My favorite song in our current repertoire is an Advent one: “O Jesus, Grant Me Hope and Comfort”. It has some great old-school four part harmony. Nice.

We're packed in pretty tight.

Awww…. that’s wonderful! Wish I could be there on Sunday. Lessons and carols sounds fun.

That is interesting about your voice. Do you think that if you were silent all Monday that your voice wouldn’t tire at all?

Maybe that’s the problem with my voice….I talk too much so my voice is strained when I try to sing. Yea, that’s gotta be it!

Although just this morning before I did any talking I was singing Christmas songs while I was getting ready for work & I heard Joe sullenly moan under his breath, ” Oh my.” Me: “Hey, I heard that.” “Do you see what I see….

Btw: Is that Sheila right in front of your music?

Very cool. I think it’s neat that you can almost daily tic off more perks to being laid off between jobs now. Saving your voice for music is a big perk if you ask me. I get frustrated with myself when my Sunday morning singing voice still bears the scars of Mon-Fri student communication (that was a euphemism for yelling and screaming at pre-pubsecents, in case I was being too subtle there).

[(bass) “O-O Come” ….(alto) “Come, Thou Precious”………….sigh…….I miss choir at Christmas time…….]
