Delicious Relief

I have had a terrible acid stomach the last few days. I have narrowed it down to a few possibilities.
One possibility: I am eating on a stricter schedule. I used to eat whenever I was hungry, or whenever I remembered. Now I am eating at precisely the same time every day, whether I am hungry or not.
Another possibility: I have been drinking more coffee lately. I love drinking coffee in my classroom in the morning. It feels comfortable and familiar. It also feels kind of burny.

I’ve decided to just keep socking the acid with antacid tablets. It seems to be working well. When I shopped for Tums, I saw a flavor I had never seen: orange cream. It sounded good. I was a little nervous about them being sugar free, what with the aftertaste artificial sweeteners leave in my mouth, but they are really tasty. If this were just some kind of candy, I would totally eat the whole bottle.

I miss Max.

    May I add 2 theories?
    1. You’re eating quite a few foods now that are not exactly found on the east coast of the mainland. Your gut is still in its “What the whuh?” phase.
    2. You miss Max. Sadness juices are filling the gut. They have a particularly low pH. Hence, the burny business. You need a temporary pet, and Carlton the doorgecko doesn’t seem all that warm and fuzzy. (…’course, Max only won on one of those fronts himself ya.) What sorts of pets do your students have; what would they recommend? (Heck, the way that commmunity has shown you the love, they’d probably give you one if you told them what you wanted!)

It’s funny you mention my doorman. He really does greet me every day. Except one. That one day he was gone, I really noticed his absence.

Sorry about Max. 🙁 Yikes. I was going to suggest going to the Maui Humane Society and seeing if they needed any volunteer help/fostering situations, and then I googled ‘Maui Humane Society ‘ and now I am sad inside.

Sorry about the stomach. You could try the teeny pinch of baking soda in the coffee. With your supertaster skills, I’m curious to know what you think.

I pass by the humane society every day. They aren’t hard to miss: they have a giant metal dog sculpture in their yard.

    Ugh. I feel your pain….literally.

My reflux is weird. It bypasses the heartburn feeling & goes straight to my throat. They call that something, but I forget what it’s called. I was diagnosed with barrett’s esophagus 4 years ago and need a biopsy every 2 years. The horror: my chocolate CIB may be one of the culprits. Milk & chocolate are big heartburn (reflux) instigators.

Good grief, Peggy. You are a walking miracle!

Fortunately for me, milk settles my stomach. I’ve been drinking it like crazy, even thought it’s freaky expensive.
