Pie and Jam

Last night I went to a restaurant with friends from work. It was an Irish pub! I was so excited! My dad wants to go to an Irish pub when he and my mom are visiting in March. It’s less than two miles from my house. Cool!

Paul had fish and chips:

Check out the peas! Ha!

Check out the peas! Ha!

I almost got corned beef and cabbage, but I had to go with a chicken and rosemary pot pie.

Mmm... Pot pie...

Mmm… Pot pie…

There was a bad car accident in Kihei last night. There are only two roads out of Kihei, and one of them (the highway) was completely shut down. It caused terrible traffic. I ended up parking my car and walking 30 minutes to the restaurant. I figured things would be cleared out by the time we finished dinner. They weren’t. In fact, the traffic was worse. Ugh. I waited for a while. I walked to the closed road to check it out. I watched some videos on my phone. I tried to take a nap. I was just reaching the point of despair when I checked the twitter feed of the local newspaper. The highway had opened! I was home by 9pm.

So slow.

So slow.

Did Paul also order the latest news with his meal….or is this Hawaii’s substitution when they run out of plates?!?

Yay for finding another good restaurant! I hope everyone was ok in the accident.

Someone died. That’s why the road was closed. I talked with a medical guy in the parking lot where my car was. He said if someone dies in a car accident, it’s treated like a crime scene.

    Excellent title btw!

Agreed about the title. 🙂 (And what are you doing up so early, Peggy?)

So is it a real newspaper? I’m fine eating fish and chips off of one, but I admit that the peas would be a little weird, and I might not eat the bottom layer. (Hello. I’m five years old.)

That traffic story is crazy! Were you doing sleep calculations in your head? “If I go to sleep now, I’ll get six hours of sleep.” “If I go to sleep now, I’ll get five hours and fifty-five minutes of sleep.” Ugh.

In case your question is not rhetorical: I’m always up at this time, but I usually watch I Love Lucy while I have my instant breakfast. But something was wrong with our cable this morning, so I got out the computer.

That is not a real newspaper. It is wax paper with a newsprint design. And I was doing sleep calculations. It was why I tried to take a nap. I thought maybe I could sleep for an hour or so, then go home and get the rest of my sleep. I never got comfortable enough to sleep though.

‘Atta Boy….scoping for a good St. Paddy’s Day Pub!! Restaurant name? Have I been to the website? Close to home is nice……but I’d be willing to drive 10 minutes to the other side of the island for good corned beef and cabbage!! Dad 🙂

The name of the restaurant is the Dog and Duck. I asked if they took reservations for St. Patrick’s Day. They said no. We’ll have to take our chances.

I have fond memories of a pub near RF that I walked to many an evening – still know the lyrics to far more Irish drinking songs than to which I’ll ever publically admit. In fact, in my mind, I’m there now…

…as for the fish & chips, though, several Valentines weekends ago I ate some and got a neurotoxin from the fish that made me very ill for days. Kinds turned me from that forever now, which is sad – used to love that. Glad you could enjoy it for me.

…and we are anticipating a snow day tomorrow, which – if it occurs – will bring the only real measurable snow to our area this winter. Jealous? (If so……you’re not right in the head, sir…and I say that with all affection.)
