I went in to school yesterday morning to get my weekend work done. While I was working, I got a text from Michele in honor of May 4th. I was so excited, because I got to reply with my favorite response. Yay!
After I got my schoolwork done, I headed out to see Iron Man 3. I’ve been looking forward to it. I got to the mall an hour before the movie started, so I had some lunch. After eating, I got in line for the movie, only to find out the tickets were sold out. D’oh!
There were some giant drums set up in the courtyard right outside the theater. A group of kids was playing them. It was mesmerizing. I stood and watched. Suddenly I noticed that one of the drummers was a student. Ha! The kids danced and twirled and tapped and boomed. It was amazing! I’m sorry I only caught the end of it. I’ll have to ask my student if her group will be playing again soon. I’d schedule my day around that.
Awesome! About the drums, I mean. Not about missing Iron Man. I haven’t seen it either, so I fell that pain.
And now let me say have a lovely Cinco de Mayo!
I’m sad for your movie loss, but glad for your drum surprise!
We have a local high school steel band coming to play at our church May 19th. I am really looking forward to that.
…or, in keeping with your original text exchange, perhaps this is a holiday for using our brains – Thinko de Mayo!! 😉 Regardless, next time a video of the drummers would be good, too – remember, we all are living vicariously through your posts now…privacy laws and common courtesy notwithstanding…thank you.
