Samith and Lloyd’s First Day in Maui

Lloyd was up before the chickens yesterday. He hadn’t adjusted to the Hawaii time zone yet. I think he had showered and dressed sometime before 5am. Sheesh! After Samith and I got ready for the day, it was time to have some breakfast. I have heard a lot about a restaurant named Tasty Crust. I had heard they had good pancakes. My information was not in error. I ordered the banana pancakes. They tasted like banana bread. Mmmm…

So delicious!

So delicious!

We went to Walmart to get some groceries. There were many impulse buys. Then we came back to my apartment. Samith went down for a nap. Lloyd wanted to nap on the beach, so I went with him. He didn’t end up sleeping because he was covered with little flying bugs. They didn’t bite or anything, but it was really freaky, so we left.

Swarms.

Swarms.

I had to do a couple of things at school, so Samith and Lloyd came along. Then we went to Big Beach. We took turns being ground into the sand by big waves. It was funny. We had some shave ice, then dinner at Fabiani’s pizza place to finish the evening.

Of course we had to shower before bed. I had a LOT of sand all over. Maybe next time I won’t roll around in the surf so much. Oh, who am I kidding? It was too fun. I may do it again today!

The sand stuck to the soap.

Glad you posted that you do actually take the opportunity to enjoy the waves and ocean a bit while you are there – I was beginning to wonder. Sand, shmand – it was worth it, no? So glad to read you have buds from the mainland for whom to be a tour guide now – sort of like paying it forward for how you were treated when you arrived, no?

If Lloyd continues to bother you in the early morning hours, just point beachward and tell him not to come home until the streetlights come on.

Glad you had fun! Continue to sleep!

Naps and sunshine. A perfect combination.

Where are some pictures of big beach & the wipe outs?

And hey, for once our lives are parrallel instead of complete opposites! We shopped for food at Walmart too & had a sunny day at the beach. But I didn’t have any waves knock me down. And it’s sunny today too! What?!? Matt is on funeral duty so it’s a girl’s weekend.

Every place that Brad took us was wonderful. Even the gnats were friendly. His time in Maui preparing for our visit was well spent.
