It was a nice Sunday. Except I totally forgot that it was Bradaptation Day. And that it was Michele’s birthday. Dang. Happy Birthday anyway, Michele! Yay!
Yesterday afternoon we planned to see a movie at the theater in town. They are just now opening a second screen. I was excited to see it, but when we got there, we found out that it’s not quite ready. So instead we rented a movie and watched it at Harold and Beth’s. It was delightful. We watched Rise of the Guardians. I had seen it already, but I really liked it, so I was glad to see it again.
When the evening was over, I walked home. I love walking. It brings me great pleasure. Seward is fun to walk in because it has great sidewalks and trees and people. Last night at dusk, the cicadas were really making a lot of noise. They sang to me all the way to Lloyd and Lauren’s.
Cicada music says “endless summer nights” to me…you know, that time in the summer break when you think time freezes and autumn may never come and, if you’re “doing school” on any level then, you smile broadly. It is truly a peaceful feeling alright; glad you got a slice of it there.
Aww… you make our little town sound so idyllic. They should put you on the city promotion committee.
The other evening I was telling your dad that I never hear the cicadas because I’m never outside at night. Maybe I’ll go out and listen tonight!
What a very nice way to spend a Sunday!
Now when you say opening a movie theater in town…is that in Seward or Lincoln? And how long does it take to walk from Beth’s to L&L’s?
In Seward. It’s the same theater as before, but now they have two screens.
It’s less than ten minutes to walk from house to house. Maybe a little longer if you stop at the merry-go-round along the way. I didn’t ride it last night, but I did give it a spin.
Wait. What?!? There’s a merry-go-round on the way between houses??? Are there lollipop plants & chocolate rivers too?
It’s just 4 blocks walk…
And no lollipops, but a slide, one of the big tall dangerous metal ones the shoot you off the end ten feet (wee!!), and swings and a picnic table. It’s charming. 🙂
Excellent!! Geez, I don’t know how far I would have to walk to find all that cool stuff near my neighborhood.
You truly live in Charm City!
