Not Quite White

I think I have paint colors chosen for my house. It has been a lot harder than I thought it would be. Normally, it would be me painting the walls myself, and once I started, if the color looked bad, I could stop and re-evaluate. The way I’m doing it now, I tell the painters what I want, and bing, bang, boom… it’s done. Will it be good? Will it be bad? I won’t know until it’s completely done.

My biggest worry is that the colors I’ve chosen will just all look like white. In the interest of keeping my house colors in neutral territory, I’ve chosen the lightest shades on each card for wall colors. I’m hoping super-bright white ceiling and trim will make the walls look like they’re colored, but I can’t shake the feeling that my house is just going to look like white on white on white. I do at least have some color in the kitchen and bathrooms. If it feels too white in my other rooms, perhaps I can just go to the bathroom or something.

Warmer colors downstairs, cooler colors upstairs.

Ha! “Go to the bathroom…” That’s hilarious.”

I think you’ll be ok. The colors are noticeable against the little white divider lines, and I notice a contrast against the white around the picture. I think you made good choices – can’t wait to see it when it’s done!

…and don’t colors usually dry darker anyway? I feel we went one shade too dark in our guest bedroom (aka The Cat House now) and wish I could redo that part, but soon it will be time to completely repaint the entire house anyhow so no worries – I say “eggshell/ecru/off-white for everyone”! Then no matter how you choose to accessorize (window treatments, rugs), nothing will “bark”. [Voice of experience here…]

For some reason I read your title in an Elmer Fudd voice, Not Quite Wight. I’m weawwy glad the post had nothing to do with a mishap of some type.

And I agree that these colors won’t look too ‘white’. I think they’re good choices & you’ll like them. (But maybe you should get a plasma TV for the bathroom just in case…)

It’s very hard picking out colors! I want to repaint a few rooms in our house. But once I pick out a color, I have to see if my husband, who insists on being involved in such things, agrees – oh why can’t he be the husband who just says yes dear, whatever color you want is fine?!?!? By the way – I like the colors you picked out!
