Around Lodi

My plane trip was fairly uneventful. In the part of the trip from Atlanta to Sacramento, I sat in a window seat kind if far back. It felt a little claustrophobic, but it was a full flight, so there wasn’t much I could do about it.

The Sacramento airport was nice. Its baggage claim area had interesting decorations:

Yesterday was spent looking around Lodi. I had lunch with the couple who picked me up at the airport. We ate in downtown Lodi. I had some delicious squash soup. After lunch, I went with a school dad on a driving tour of Lodi. If there is one word to sum up what I saw it would be grape vines. Wait… that’s two words. There are a LOT of grapes being grown around Lodi. One of my tour guides said there were over sixty wineries in the area!

Today I’m hanging out with my new friends at their workplace.

HA! So THAT’s where the suitcase from ’99 went that I lost on that trip back to Illinois. That sculpture cracks me up – bet they can’t say “I couldn’t find luggage claim” out there,eh?

What’s not to like about a land with 60 wineries?!

[I missed yesterday’s post altogether, no now I am going back to see the crash-and-burn plane that is inevitably posted there…watched BBT last night and thought of you when Howard and Sheldon’s plane hit turbulence…]

I agree with Carol – best sculpture for an airport EVER.

The vineyards look so pretty. Is it warm there? I bet it’s warm. How warm is it? Mmmmmm….. warmth….

60 wineries! 60 wineries! Sounds like a tour in the planning!

That looks like HOME!! So excited for you for being in that area. Love it. So many things to do and the weather’s almost always great. Have fun! Try not to let this get stuck in your head (sorry about the ad): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0VDnQv-rLA

Btw: Does John Fogerty have it right……do you pronounce Lodi, low-die? I thought it would be Low-dee or Lah-dee.

      PS. Question not rhetorical.

I had heard about Lodi wineries in either a commercial or on a PBS or History Channel winery program. Looks like there should be interesting things to see (and taste) around Lodi.

I sat in about the same position on a flight last week. I think I was one seat forward. I didn’t like it because the wing blocked the view, but the flight was full so i didn’t have much choice. We had some turbulence on the flight and had to keep our seat belts on most of the time. I also thought of you when I watched BBT last night. Carol and I must think alike sometimes! Have fun!
