White Liatris

I went to the garden center yesterday. I wanted to add liatris plants to my garden. Butterflies and bees like liatris flowers because they are long-bloomers and they are full of nectar. The most common color is lavender/pink, but white is available. I was looking specifically for white. Before, I didn’t like white flowers in my garden at all. This year it’s all I think about when considering new additions.

Liatris bulbs are sold in the spring, but they are either pink, or a mix of pink and white. Yesterday Valley View Farms had white liatris plants. Yay! Specifically, it’s ‘Floristan White’. I paid a premium price to get plants instead of bulbs, and to get all white. But it will be worth it. Yes, it will be worth it.

Hopefully the bloom spikes will straighten up before the flowers open.

Cool! I am at my parents’ now and as I look around their garden I keep thinking that you should come here to appreciate it like it deserves. You garden types should stick together. 🙂
