Bingo Treats

I’m going to Bingo Night tomorrow. In the past, Angie usually brought Rice Krispie treats, but she’s in Uruguay, so she won’t be attending. I decided I should bring the treats myself. I can’t make them tonight because I’ll be out until all hours of the night in church choir practice, so I made them last night.

The marshmallow bag had the recipe, but it only had microwave directions – no stove top at all. I don’t have a bowl big enough for microwaving and mixing a bag of marshmallows and six cups of cereal, so I did it in a pot on the stove. I did cut back on the cereal. I wanted the coating to be thicker rather than thinner. Mmm…

I actually did two batches, because why not? I resisted the urge to cut into them last night because I wanted them to stay fresh.

So much sweetness...

So much sweetness…

Have you ever had salted caramel Rice Krispie treats? They are not much more difficult but they will change your life. Just use real butter and let it brown when melting it. Incredible…

PS I hope you get BINGO.

Well, now I have to get back to the grocery store for more marshmallows. That recipe sounds delicious!

I worried when you said you were cutting back on the cereal. I am not a fan of seeing gobs of marshmallow on the treats, but those actually look perfect. Mmmmmm…..

    Gretchen, those sound pretty amazing!

Yummy!! And you have much more resistance than me….I would have definately eaten one of those pans. (rice krispies treats are so light & fluffy…yes, I could eat an entire pan myself I’m pretty sure)

…and my dessert from the football team-sponsored lunch today? Peppermint Rice Krispie Treat! This despite some front dental work recently – but, heck, the temporary crown is already gone and the dentist is away all week, so what the heck! I’ll be looking forward to my cut of those Friday evening, sir…

–she who is bringing holiday-shaped pretzels (yes, leftover from Christmas -what can I say?)
