War Whistling

Since I started working at my new school, I have become a whistler. I whistle in the hallways all the time. People comment on it sometimes, and I’m not sure if they think it’s cheerful or if they think it’s annoying. I do it unconsciously now, so stopping would take some effort.

Yesterday I was whistling the same tune all day long. When I realized what I was doing, I wondered where this tune came from. My guess was that it was an old war movie of some kind. I first tried listening to the theme from The Magnificent Seven. That wasn’t it, but then in the sidebar, I saw The Great Escape. I gave it a listen. That was it! I was whistling the theme music for The Great Escape all day yesterday. I have no idea why.

Now there’s a movie I don’t think about often enough – I do recall thoroughly enjoying it when I first saw it, though. [And now, of course, I have an ear worm for my day, too. Yippee…]

      Hehe… You’re welcome.

Huh. I am not familiar with that tune, though it sounds a bit like the “Comet, it makes your teeth turn green….” song. Or the Armor Hot Dogs song.

I am a fan of whistling! Keep doing it!

For more excellent War Movie Whistling, I would also recommend The Bridge On the River Kwai Theme.

I was just going to tell Lauren that that was the Comet tune. I went to get the link, and now the tune is in my head. I think that will be what I whistle all day today.

I thought the same thing Lauren….that McQueen song sounds like the “Comet song…”. I wonder who came up with that & why do all children learn it?

And I am a lousy whistler. But I hum all the time. And so now I’m humming …”so buy some Comet & vomit today.”

Now I have an overlay of the theme from Hogan’s Heroes atop The Great Escape flying through my head. It sort of works – try it.

(Thank you for greeting me with the whistle today, too. Great way to start the day.)
