Fielding and Forting

Tara and Tim spent some time with me yesterday. I was doing a little gardening at Lloyd and Lauren’s, so they came over there. Lloyd suggested we all go check out the fort. It’s only a short walk from Lloyd and Lauren’s house. The route took us through a field full of wildflowers. It felt like the closing credits of Little House on the Prairie.

The flowers were beautiful!

The fort area was a little difficult to work in. There were LOTS of mosquitoes. Fortunately, we had soaked ourselves in bug spray. There was also quite a bit of poison ivy. I get nervous around poison ivy because I have a reaction to it. Tara and Tim added some sticks to the wall, but I mostly just stood still and tried not to touch anything.

A sturdy construction.

Tara and Tim continued our time together with a trip to Runza, then we went back to their house to play Minecraft. It was a good day

Nice legacy this clan is leaving for the area – now when does the deck and satellite dish go in? 😉

The flowers look beautiful! Thank you so much!

That fort is a thing of …. beauty. Although, I felt much fonder toward it until you told me it has poison ivy growing INSIDE it. I’m also surprised you all didn’t come back covered in ticks.

I like the field picture too….but my 1st thought was….well, it was actually a song:

    You’re out of the woods,
    You’re out of the dark,
    You’re out of the night,
    Step into the sun,
    Step into the light….”

(Even though they’re going the wrong way & the flowers are wrong….that was my thought….there are least 4 of you…..that part is right)

I had to look that up. I know the tune really well, but didn’t know the words.

Those round pinkish flowers look awfully like “red clover”. If it is, you can pull a tuft of them out by the roots and sample the roots with your teeth and tongue. If it’s red clover, it will be a nice sweet taste….the kind that honeybees like.
Your “Fielding and Forting” looked like lots of fun in spite of nature’s other presence–mosquitoes and poison ivy.
