Yesterday I did nothing during the day. I woke up late, then sat around and did nothing. I didn’t shower, I didn’t go outside (except to cut my toenails on the front steps), and I didn’t talk with anyone. All the while, my energy level was increasing.
I’ve heard the definition of extrovert and introvert like this:
Extrovert – Someone who gains energy by being with other people.
Introvert – Someone who gains energy by being by themselves.
By that definition, I am an introvert. But I do like to be around people. I often think about peoples’ social preferences in terms of dog and cat:
Social Dog – Likes to be social in packs and have multiple people around.
Social Cat – Likes to be social with fewer or only one other person at a time.
Though I really do enjoy spending one-on-one time with good friends, I am usually a social dog. I am an introverted social dog. I’m sure there is a Myers-Briggs combination that fits that.
You are an ambivert!
[You lost me at “cut my toenails”… :-/ Well, at least you go outdoors for that….]
Glad to see you have figured out some important personal traits after all these decades! Now go put the force to good use – spend quality time with one friend at a time and enjoy the day, sir.
This is my favorite Myers-Briggs-online-free version…

This test gave me ESFP. Kind of unexpected. Have I changed? I’ll have to try some other tests to see if I get similar results.
Cool, I’m ESFP, too, but I seem to switch from P to J occasionally.
I’m ENFJ. I, too, have changed over the years. I used to be ENTJ. It’s a good change.
I got INFJ-T. I haven’t read the whole explanation yet, but it starts out by saying we’re a very rare group. Hehe….does rare signify something good or something whacked?!?
Hooray for recharging!
I never think of being by myself as ‘alone’, it’s ‘solitude’. Sweet, sweet, solitude. I never thought about the cat/dog comparison. That is interesting……..
