Shave Ice in Lincoln

Kurt heard about a new shave ice place in Lincoln called Breezy Island Ice. He was curious to see if it was authentic. Yesterday we went to check it out. Harold, Beth, and kids were there too.

The shave ice place is located in a new building called the Railyard. It’s right next to the new arena. There are lots of nice restaurants, including one with old-style arcade games in it – Donkey Kong, anyone? There is also a courtyard with a huge screen in it.

On game days, this place must be packed!

The shave ice place was really good. They used actual shave ice machines! The flavors were tasty too. The didn’t offer ice cream on the bottom, or cream on top, but as far as the texture went, it was spot on! Good job, Breezy Island Ice!

I had grape, cherry, and orange.

Hooray! Lloyd will have to arrange for a trip with Samith and Curt, and they’ll need to photoshop you into a picture or something.

That Railyard place is amazing, isn’t it?i’ve only walked through once, but it is worth investigating further. Who would have thought that Lincoln would be so nice?

What about that place in Seward by the WELS church? Could I get a review of that one?

I’ll see what I can do.

I just got a snowball last night & they advertise them as Hawaiian Shaved Ice. Who are they trying to kid…..you can tell it’s not authentic right in the sign. Shaved. Heh. We know thanks to you it should be Shave Ice. Anyway, the snowball is still very fine ice & super delicious!! And I ALWAYS get marshmallow on it. Yum! Close your eyes & make a sound yum, as Brad would say! (Sorry Lauren, I know you despise marshmallow…but to me it’s the best part)

So, my question is…..do they offer marshmallow on these Hawaiian shave ices?

The shave ice I had in Maui had ice cream on the bottom, and regular cream on top. This place offered neither, but I was glad to have actual shaved ice in my shave ice 🙂

Well…I guess a Baltimorean in Nebraska on a hot summer evening can’t realistically expect a “snowball” with ice cream and/or marshmallow cream on top. But it sounds like you got a good second best there. My current favorite is from the Icy Delights stand off Kenwood Ave. by the Bill Batemans Express. We like them because I can get peanut butter sauce on my chocolate snowball (when one of these becomes dinner, that’s the protein, see?) and because they never open on Sundays to give honor to God and their families. We like that….until we crave shave ice on a Sunday evening, of course.
