It’s cooler here at night now, so I’m not using the air conditioner all night. I still might run it for a short while to take the humidity or warmness out of my bedroom at night, but I don’t run it until morning, because then I will be too chilly.
Part of what I like about the air conditioner is the white noise. I’m so used to noise while I sleep, I would have a hard time going without it. For many years now I have used a mechanical white noise maker during the cooler months. It’s a little fan inside a housing. It makes a whooshing fan-like noise. It’s not as loud as the air conditioner, but it’s enough to help me sleep.
Wow – that’s an old-fashioned real deal noise machine! I think the ones today all play electronic noises. I even downloaded one on the iPad that let you pick-and-choose your peaceful sounds and combine them. “Rushing river with crickets and whale song during a thunderstorm while a cat purrs” That kind of thing.
I have two fans blowing in the room. You’re right – the noise is necessary.
I’m addicted to white noise, too.
I just hum softly.
Huh, I never knew such a thing existed. I may have to get one….but I don’t want a new electronic type one. Or I could just start running a humidifier again I suppose. I love that white noise.
I fall asleep with my T.V. on…..I set the shut off timer for 30 minutes or so and never ever see or hear it turn off. P.S. I also use “doilies” under anything sitting on top of any dresser, table, shelf or nightstand!! <3 Aunt Bev 🙂
My dad just goes to bed with the TV on. It’s 50/50 whether he says, “I was watching that.” when you turn it off.
I always play my nature sound music when I put my grand babies down to nap. It seems to lull them to sleep. I used to play the ocean and rain music in my classroom at times to help settle the restless swarm. One day one of my students said I should stop playing that music because it made him want to go to the restroom!
[Be honest…you did that on purpose, didn’t you? tee hee]
