Phone Call

Yesterday before school I got a phone call. It was my co-worker. She said she was trying to get a hold of the principal, but wasn’t having any luck. The principal had left the building to go next door for some chips for our school lunch. I told my co-worker I would speak to the principal as soon as I saw her. I asked if there was any message I should pass on.

“Are you okay?” I asked.

“I’m in labor,” she replied.

So exciting! When I saw the principal (who is also the baby’s grandmother), I told her my co-worker was trying to contact her.

She asked: “Is she in labor?”

I hesitated. “Um, I don’t know if I’m supposed to tell you.”

“Are you messing with me?”

I still sometimes have difficulty with these social etiquette issues. Should I have told her? In the end, it didn’t matter because it was such happy news.

My last update was in the afternoon, and my co-worker was still in labor. Hopefully everything has gone well and there is a new baby in our school family. Hooray!

UPDATE: Baby boy was born around 5pm last night. 7 pounds 2 ounces. Baby and mommy are both healthy and well.

I just love how you tell stories…..

But seriously, folks: praying God granted a healthy birth and relatively easy delivery…and you already have a long-term sub lined up.
