During my last music class with the first graders, I had them do some coloring. While the kids were working, they were out of their seats a lot for various reasons. At one point, while I was talking with one of the boys, another boy grabbed my hand and pressed his nose against it. I thought he was kissing my hand like they do in old timey movies or tv shows, but he wasn’t. He was smelling me. He looked up at me and said: “You smell nice.”
I smelled the back of my hand, but couldn’t detect any scent. I hadn’t recently washed my hands, so it wasn’t a soap smell. Was it my watch band he was smelling? I may never know.
That is a compliment you don’t get every day.
Kids. So delightfully weird. 🙂
