I use a special kind of bulb in a lamp in my downstairs bathroom. The shade on the lamp is cut glass, and this kind of bulb makes pretty sparklies that a regular bulb doesn’t. It’s a very bright white light.
The bulb is a halogen light inside a regular bulb. I used to buy these all the time. They were called Halogena. I don’t see that kind in the store any more, but a couple of months ago, I saw a different brand and bought them. I’m glad I did, because my old bulb just burnt out, and I had something to replace it with.
I like that kind of light fixture – it makes the wall look like a piece of art when the light is on.
Do you think the ‘do not touch’ is so the bulb doesn’t explode?
From what little I know of halogen (which, BTW, I will never have in my home or car headlights), they burn VERY hot, so touching them could be beyond painful for the touch-er.
Thus ends today’s lecture.
That’s what the package says on bare halogen bulbs. The glass gets rocket-hot. The oils from your fingers make the glass of the bulb heat unevenly, and the variable expansion cracks the glass.
That is Gorgeous!!! 🙂
