Over the weekend, I went to Lilypons Water Gardens. It is such a great place! Huge ponds and wetlands full of beautiful plants, all kinds of water plants for sale at reasonable prices, and a really friendly staff. Sorry to sound like a commercial, but I want to give them proper recognition for being great. (I almost wrote “give props” and wondered where that expression came from. It’s from the phrase I decided to use: “PROPer recognition”. Get it? Ha!)
I always buy food to feed the koi. There is a huge pond full of koi. They love to be fed. I love to feed them.
I bought a lotus for my pond. They had a beautiful red lotus available called “Walker”. I’m very excited about it. I got one with buds on it, and one of the buds opened yesterday.
One of my bullfrogs liked the lotus too. The day after I put it in, she laid eggs all over it. Yesterday the eggs hatched.
Oh, my stars – you are going to have so many frogs! Unless they don’t survive, in which case I don’t want to know.
That lily is gorgeous. Somebody somewhere posted a picture of the underside of a water lily leaf and the structure was incredible. (I think googling it would be simpler than my posting it.) Are they all like that?
