Recovery

Yesterday was the day after the Fourth of July. It’s always kind of low-key.

I slept in, then headed over to Harold and Beth’s to help move stuff out of their den. They are getting new carpet, and Phase One is to do the den and someplace upstairs. Phase Two will be the other places. Doing it in two phases means not moving all the furniture out of the house.

When I saw the empty den, it made me want to do that to my house – to empty a room completely, then bring back only those items I really want to have in there.

So much space!

So much space!

After the room was empty, I headed to my parents house. We tried to have a conversation, but I was so sleepy, I couldn’t keep my eyes open. I finally just went unconscious on the couch next to Gus:

He was very comfortable.

He was very comfortable.

After I woke up, we hung out some more. My mom eventually went to a dinner at church, but my dad and I spent the evening watching back-to-back episodes of Family Feud on the Game Show Network. It was great!

Awww….. Gus looks adorable! He really is a sweet kitty. 🙂

Beth and Harold’s room is very inspiring. I’m subscribed to a minimalist subgroup on a website, and the pictures they post there are inspiring. (Well, mostly inspiring. Sometimes I think, “That living room looks like you just moved in from college.” It’s a fine line.

    Gus’ diary, Day 9:

It worked! By concentrating super hard while my usual human sat near me I was able to make him fall asleep – I feel like The Brain (from “Pinkie and…”). Then I could snuggle even longer on the (yawn) comfy couch beneath those (stretch) warm covers and … zzzzzzzzz. Life in Nebraska is good.

Gus is so cute! How great that you have him there with you.
