Half of the school went on a field trip yesterday. The fourth through eighth grades when to the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra for a concert, then toured Oriole Park. It was great.
It’s the hundredth anniversary of the BSO, and also the hundredth anniversary of the US National Park system. They got together and did a concert for us. A park ranger was the emcee, some historical reenactors from park service spoke, and the BSO played some delightful music, including The Grand Canyon Suite, which is a large part of the sound track for the movie A Christmas Story. Ha!
The tour of the ballpark was amazing. It’s such a beautiful stadium. My biggest takeaway fact: The warehouse building that runs alongside the ballpark is the longest building on the east coast. If it stood up on its end, it would be only 200 feet shorter than the Empire State Building.
There were many other fun facts and cool sights. We even walked on the field!
What a great field trip! That ballpark is one of my favorites.
Wow! You got to take two amazing field trips on the same day! I am in awe at how much you got to do. Wow.
Also, is that a purple wizard’s hat at the concert or did a very cultured garden gnome attend?
It’s a squid hat. I took that picture after the concert was over and we were about to go outside.
and, Camden Yards was designed by a woman! She almost added “stand-up urinals” for women! It was shown/discussed in the paper and glad they never did it!
Field trips are awesome! You got to do some dandies, too.
