I stopped at a convenience store yesterday, and there were some bushes by the parking lot that gave me a strong feeling of memory. I saw this kind of bush regularly at some place from my childhood. This bush made me almost see the place in my mind’s eye, but not quite. I couldn’t bring the specific place to mind.
I clearly remember the leaves with their tiny stickers around the edges. I clearly remember the zig-zag stems with their wicked-looking thorns. I even clearly remember that some of the leaves turn red in the fall. But I can’t remember where this bush was. A little help, people from my childhood? Do you remember?
Those were a lot like the bushes that were between our house and the driveway in Tennessee. But not the same.
Did Neidens have those in front of their house?
Sorry – I’m no help. They look fairly Christmas-y, though.
Those are some wicked thorns. Be careful.
Another memory is an adult using those to twist a crown of thorns for Holy Week.
Sorry, can’t remember a specific location. I remember they stick in your hands pretty firmly though.
