Fixing Feet

We had a half day of school yesterday because Third Quarter ended on Tuesday. It was supposed to be work time for grades and report cards. Because it was time I didn’t normally have, I decided to do something un-normal. I can do grades and report cards tonight when I’m waiting for bells, or Sunday, or super-early on Monday and Tuesday, or whenever I normally do stuff like that.

What I did yesterday was fix the feet of student chairs. I’ve had stacks of chairs in my classroom since the beginning of the year. Their little feet were broken, but replaceable.

Harry the do-everything-around-here guy told me how to pop off the old feet with a pliers and hammer, so I popped off the old feet and put on some new ones. We now have nine extra chairs! Woo hoo! And my classroom doesn’t have broken chairs stacked in it! Woo hoo!

Now if I can just find some time to grade and do report cards…

It involved lots of banging and noise.

Good for you! I applaud your fix-it/can-do/problem-solving attitude! 🙂

Just more evidence that the successful classroom teacher does so much more than “teach”. I can only imagine the benefits to your students having accomplished this time-consuming task. God bless you, sir.
