Stone Stashing

I have to get rid of gravel every once in a while… sometimes it’s from the garden, sometimes it’s from construction, sometimes it’s from the aquarium. There is no good way to get rid of gravel. I mean, you can just throw it out in the garden or lawn, but it’s made of rocks, so it doesn’t dissolve. You can pile it somewhere, but eventually the spaces between the rocks fill up with dirt and then you have a mess. Throwing it in the trash? It’s so heavy, and I do NOT want to make the sanitation workers mad.

But I think I might have discovered a way to dispose of gravel. When I pulled weeds a couple of weeks ago, I generated several trash bags of refuse. Last trash pickup day, I put a few in my trash can. The rest are still sitting in my back yard. Yesterday, I took a bucket of gravel I didn’t know what to do with, and I sprinkled a little in each bag. Perfect! The bags aren’t too heavy, and the gravel is camouflaged. It will safely make its way to the landfill where it will lovingly nestle between bits of rotting garbage.

I should be able to get most of these bags in this week's trash pick up.

Your gravel is so pretty – like polished stones! I think you could sell it by the buckets and make a pretty penny. Just a penny, but still…..

Those Is Rocks!!!! Gravel Is Very Fine And Smaller Than Pea Size In Nebraska!!! 🙂 P.S. I just saw a post that the Arlington Bank was just robbed…..Guess I better drive downtown & see what’s going on and if I can help!!!! 🙂

By way of explanation for Lauren and Aunt Bev, they are aquarium rocks. The person who gave me my current aquarium also gave me the rocks. I didn’t use them, and they’ve been sitting on my back porch for a long time.

Good to know. I was starting to feel self-conscious about my non-beautiful gravel. 😉
