Destroying Documents

One of the problematic things in my house purge is my collection of tax documents from my entire adult life. As I got bank statements and bills and insurance documents, I’ve saved them in a shoe box. At the end of each year, I’ve printed out my tax return, put it in the box, and marked it with the year. I currently have 1993 through 2016.

I’ve decided to keep the last three years only. The rest will be destroyed. I tried using a personal shredder yesterday, but it took forEVER! And that was just one box. I have twenty of them to shred. Maybe they would burn? Or maybe I can put them in a trash bag with a bunch of water? Or ink? Cement? Ugh.

I did remember seeing a giant shredder truck next door in the bank parking lot once. I checked the internet to see if there was some kind of shredding event coming up. I didn’t see one scheduled for next door, but I did see THIS one. It’s not too far from my school. It’s on a Saturday, so that means a separate trip to that part of town, but I think it will end up being a much easier way to destroy these sensitive documents.

Yeah. We have a tub of those. Lloyd was going to have them shredded but I insisted I would burn them. We’ll see.

Goo for you with the sorting and purging! It seems to be coming right along!

I think places like Office Max will shred things for you. I believe there is a fee, but maybe it would be worth it instead of spending your Saturday driving around town. Time is money!
