I haven’t seen it rain in Kihei since I moved here. It’s pretty dry there. But on Monday, it rained in Kahului. And it was more than a sprinkle. It happened right as school was starting.
Since that rain, I’ve been distracted every time I get into my truck. It has polka-dots! The rain beaded up and left little spots of dirt all over my truck. I’m not sure if it’s just dust from the windy days I’ve experienced, or if it’s ash from the volcano on the Big Island. Sometimes the ash mixes with fog and they call it “vog”.
Volcanic smoke/ash + fog = vog
Whatever the case, I really should wash my truck. I had such a nice detail job a month ago. I should really work to keep it good looking.
Wow! Nice job keeping the photo until the end. I was imagining something much less dirty, but now you have a leopard-print car. It’s actually rather stylish.
Vog? That can’t be good for your lungs.
I was thinking the same thing, Lauren – yet, even without the fog that volcanic ash in the lungs can’t be ideal, eh? Though I have no recollection of any imagery from Hawaii where residents or tourists are wearing face masks, so…what do we know?
It’s a cool pattern though!
