A hurricane is headed our way. Because news is always sensationalized, it’s hard to know how seriously to take the warnings they give. At the very least, we will have lots of wind and rain.
The advice is to have water on hand and to have enough food for if everything gets shut down. I did stop at the grocery store yesterday. I got extra cereal.
Many people at the grocery store were buying water. I think that’s crazy! If you have containers, you can fill them with sink water, and you’re set… for free! (or whatever the tiny cost of sink water is) I’ve saved a lot of milk jugs. I’ll have enough water for days!
Good thinking. Free sink water is entirely the way to go! So is a bathtub for flushing water. (I got that tidbit from Kristi.)
Can you take Gus to school with you on Friday? He could be a comfort cat and would be on the less hurricane-y side of the island.
We’re praying, Brad!
Also praying. There was a hurricane earlier this summer, right? Since I didn’t hear anything about it after it was supposed to hit, I assume it didn’t do much. Is that right?
And filling the bathtub for flushing is quite useful. I also fill pitchers with sink water instead of buying.
Be safe. Praying for everyone there.
Did you buy enough milk for your cereal?
I’m curious…How does Gus react to hurricane-type weather?
Are the schools closed today & tomorrow?
Hunker down……and enjoy that cereal!
Considering parts of B’more got 13″ of rain during the month of July alone, and we’re still kicking, I trust between your cereal stash, the comfort of a warm, furry cat ( –er–uh–well, you know what I mean), and filling your tub and milk jugs with fresh water, you should survive just fine. [Batteries for flashlights/matches for candles? Just a thought…]
God bless and keep everyone there. I know you’ll keep us posted if you are able.
I hope you have marshmallows….you can make Rice Krispy treats!
