Nothing to See Here

Yesterday was a day of “not much” for me. I didn’t do much in the morning. I slept in and then lay in bed for a while. After that, I schlepped around the house. I didn’t think I should go anywhere, because the storm was coming, and I wanted to be safe.

As the day went on, there was no rain and no wind. I thought maybe I’d walk over to the beach to see how rough the surf was. The ocean was choppy, but the waves were not big.

As the day continued, it did sprinkle a little, and there were on-and-off wind gusts, but nothing like I was expecting. Our faculty group-texts, and Diane was reporting that upcountry Maui was having a lot of rain and wind and that power was out. So I guess the wind and rain are hitting, but I’m just not seeing it.

I did, however spot the sunset sky from my lanai. It was one of the deepest red skies I’ve seen. I tried to get a picture of it.

We aren’t out of the woods yet. The rain is supposed to continue today, and there is still the possibility of strong winds.

I hope and pray that there is still nothing to see. One year ago we were waiting for Hurricane Harvey to arrive so this is so relatable.

I agree with Gretchen. I’d rather have you a bit bored than in danger. I’m praying for another non-exciting day for you! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve been trying to watch the news, too. I love how easily they say all the cool city/area/road names.

Cheers to boredom and days off from school during nice weather. Hope it stays that way. Hope others who are experiencing the storm are safe. Prayers!

Some teachers and I were just talking at trivia Wednesday night about how sad it is that you donโ€™t get snow days. Gary Barth said โ€œyes but he gets hurricane days!โ€ Hope you continue to be safe! Miss you. Had bacon in your honor last night ๐Ÿ™‚

The news told us Maui and the Big Island were (going to be) hit hardest. Praying they are sensationalizing things and you are all high and dry still. Take care…
