On the list for yesterday for Samith and his family was the Road to Hana.
To be honest, the kids weren’t really that excited about it. They wanted to stay at the hotel and swim at the beach. But we stopped at a swimming hole along the way, and they had an adventure they would have missed out on at the hotel… swimming in a Hawaiian stream:
There were quite a few people swimming at this particular pool. They were fun to watch. Then something caught everybody’s attention: a small boy took a path to the top of the waterfall and stood as if he were going to jump:
Then he jumped!
After some short deliberation, Ethan and Rachel decided they would jump too. How exciting and fun! I mean, I would never be able to jump off of there, but they both did, and they’ll remember it for a long time.
I didn’t get pictures of them jumping. Instead I did videos of them. Sorry they’re clickable links instead of embedded videos. I was tired when I wrote this post and didn’t want to take the time to upload them to YouTube.
Gah!!! That is so trusting!! We have all kinds of posts around here with the flooding that say, “This is why you never drive through a flooded street,” and then it shows a giant sinkhole after the waters recede. That waterfall is the opposite. I’m glad that it is deep enough.
Regardless of my fears, that looks like a fabulous time! I’m glad there was unexpected joy!
