Ringing Writing

At the end of last school year, I posted in the “items wanted” section of The Lutheran Witness. I asked if anyone had a set of handbells that our school could have. Someone answered! A church musician in Florida emailed and said they had a set that hadn’t been used for many years. He said he had to check with the donors, but he was sure they would agree, because they are big supporters of Lutheran education.

The donors said “yes”! It took a while to get everything arranged, because the musician and I were both traveling over the summer, but we finally got things rolling once I got back to Maui.

The handbells arrived yesterday! Woo hoo!

There are three octaves. They need a little attention before they can be played, but I have a lot of experiance with handbell maintenance. I also need to get playing tables and music and such, so it’s going to be a while before we get a handbell choir up and running. But it’s so exciting! Thank you, Jonathan! Thank you donors! You guys are awesome!

Holy cow! That is so wonderful! That is such a great donation for that church to make. Instead of gathering dust, they are going to make some children appreciate a ‘new’ way to make music.

It’s too bad the lyrics to this song are not child-appropriate or you could show them this:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRXv_VU35Lw

Wow a bunch of bells for free! How great! I love hand bells! Have never played but i think they are the prettiest expression of music.
