I stopped at Home Depot after school yesterday. All stores in Hawaii are asking people to wear masks. I have a mask that my co-worker Peter got from Longs and gave to me. It’s simple, it’s reusable, and washable.
I’ve used it a few times now, and I’m just coming to realize that I can’t breathe very well when I wear it. When I come out of the store and take it off, I’m always breathing heavily – almost panting.
Is the mask hard to breathe through? Am I just not breathing when I’m wearing it?
Is it multi-layered? Is the cloth kind of thick? I’ve only worn my no-sew mask once to the store and it was two layers of thicker t-shirt material, but I was just hot after wearing it. It’s not comfortable to breathe, but I wasn’t panting.
It’s like one layer of tshirt material. That doesn’t seem like it should be hard to breathe through.
I’m the same way. And my glasses get foggy.
Also, I thought you had a pair of underwear on your face at first.
HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! I laughed out loud.
Hehe… that was my first thought when I saw it. Maybe I should try actual underwear. They say “breathable” in underwear adds all the time, don’t they?
My mask is hot & a little hard to breath in. And gigs up my reading glasses too.
How do people who have to wear these for a living do it!
Gigs=fogs
I just saw a video yesterday about rubbing a bar of soap on your glasses, then polishing the lenses with a cloth. The soap residue is supposed to keep it from fogging.
I tried the soap and it didn’t work for me. But I did find an anti-fog cloth on Amazon. It just arrived today, but so far so good!

Thanks for the follow-up! I haven’t worn my glasses again since that first time. I’m still having trouble breathing through the masks though. Sheesh!
I’ve been wearing a mask here and there and it IS very uncomfortable and hot and foggy and could be getting panicky after a while. We are all getting a taste of what our healthworkers go through in normal circumstances. I couldn’t be in the medical field for a plethora of reasons but never thought of the mask thing so there’s one more. That’s a wonderful breed of people!
Could be worse, friends. I know a gal who goes to PT regularly and now has to wear her mask for an hour while doing therapy. She also has asthma. You know that didn’t end well…and she’s not done with PT yet. Prayers?
Praying…
