Fight Films

I’ve been watching a lot of Chinese Kung-fu movies lately. I like the ones that are set in old-timey times, where people use swords and spears and sometimes magical power punches.

It’s been interesting to see common themes. Romances rarely ever work out. Usually because one of the people in the couple dies. There is often self-sacrifice involved too… the good of the many preserved by the sacrifice of the one.

The stories are usually pretty good. And I really like the special effects. Fortunately, the streaming services are noticing that I watch them, and they’re suggesting new ones to me. Nice!

I had to go back and re-read what you said, because my early morning eyes thought that the movies were FROM old times, and I was curious how they did the special effects. Then I saw that this one was from 2017…… I get it now. My bad. (I also have recently watched the Bob’s Burgers where Bob and Louise were watching old martial arts films. Hawk and Chick!)

    Go, t.v.!

I hear a connection to Star Trek buried in there…”the good of the many outweigh the good of the one”. Wonder if Spock knew Kung Fu…though why would he need it when he had that awesome neck pinchy thingy going for him? Hmmm. Something to ponder the rest of today.
