Darn Disposal

The disposal in my kitchen sink has stopped working. Darn. I tried the little reset button, and I checked to see if the breaker has been tripped. No luck. Darn.

I guess I’ll need to replace it. I’m thinking it might not be too hard? Just take off the old one, and put the new one back on the same way?

It looks kind of new. This shouldn’t be broken yet, right?

Before you replace it, try this: ours did not ‘work’ but we could hear the motor working. There was a jam and all I had to do was get a hex head wrench and turn a screw to release the jam and we were back in business.

Brady, mine is silent. It’s weird, because it didn’t stop while I was using it, or after I bumped it getting something out from under the sink or anything. It just wasn’t working one day.

Then it may be necessary to replace. When I did replace mine a few years ago, I purchased an exact replica which meant that all the parts would line up and I had to do even less to replace it. Not that difficult to be fair.

I am scared of disposals, but Brady seems to be brave. Fly him out to help! (Hi, Brady!). 😀

Hi Lauren, not so much brave, more afraid of spending money . . . .

Our disposal has four legs; never needs repair that way.

Never had one that I used (first apartment had one but I never used it) so no wisdom from here. Best wishes on an inexpensive fix.

Haha! Carol, I didn’t understand your comment at first. I thought “has four legs” was a way to say something lasted a long time: “I’ve had this wristwatch since I was a kid! It has four legs!”
