Burying Bulbs

I got home a little earlier than usual, and was inspired to do something in the garden. I’ve been artificially chilling some tulip bulbs in my refrigerator since November. They should be chilled long enough, so I potted them.

This should be good timing, because it’s about to rain a lot, and that will really soak them in. Plus, the rain is bringing cool temperatures, so that will help the tulips not sprout so quickly. The slower they grow, the more roots they develop, and the stronger they’ll be.

Not that it really matters… these tulips were doomed from the moment they were accidentally sent to me. Tulips that grow in a warm climate like this don’t have a chance. These bulbs will bloom, and then I’ll dig them up and put them in the compost bin.

Awwww….. thanks for giving those bulbs a chance to shine. They might not last long, but they sure will bring joy when they bloom. 🙂
