Distraction Day

Peggy has been pretty nervous about her trip to Italy. She leaves from home today just after 2pm. Yesterday, she and I planned to get together and have lunch or something so she could be distracted from her thoughts of travel. On the radio, I heard about an exhibition at one of our art galleries in town. It was a display of all sorts of maps. I’m not normally very excited about maps, but there were several original maps drawn by famous people. There were some by Leonardo DaVinci, Ben Franklin, Abe Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington. There was also a map from Babylon in 1300BC. But I was most excited about sketchings of the Lonely Mountain and Minas Tirith by J.R.R. Tolkein. They were actual pages actually written on by him. One of the pages was the back of a student test paper. hehe

I couldn’t take pictures. There was a sign. And there were docents crawling all over the place. Peggy the Scofflaw kept telling me to take one anyway. I don’t know what world she lives in, but in my world, defying authority figures means serious trouble. Those museum docents might’ve looked like they were 100 years old, but I bet they had secret ninja skillz. I wasn’t going to mess with them. Peggy went back in after we were done and snapped some shots with her phone. I don’t think she realized how close she came to death. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to get them loaded into my computer. Dnag.

Anyway, thanks for the little bit of excitement in being on the wrong side of the law, Peggy. I hope you aren’t tracked down by the DaVinci branch of the Illuminati while you are in Italy. They have powers. And I hope your plane trip goes fast. Watch some romantic comedy with Hugh Grant or something. Then you’ll wish your plane would crash.

Lloyd is going to be so jealous! He loves maps! Did you take some mental pictures so you can faithfully re-create the handdrawn maps?

    • Lauren

I forgot to say – safe travel, Peggy! You have lots of people praying for you to feel safe and comfortable in the air (then jealous of you while actually in Italy).

  2. Lloyd

Yeah, I’m never going to see this sort of thing again. After my accident I can’t go into museums without trying go recreate The Thomas Crown Affair.

    Yeah, I’m jealous.

    • Lloyd

So jealous, that I had to go here for awhile.

    • Michele

I’m more jealous of you junk drawer Lloyd!

The Thomas Crown Affair – great flick!

I’m surprised you picked that kind of a distraction – aren’t you supposed to be reasonably quiet in those places? (or is that just libraries – another place I don’t frequent – ha!) I’m sure you guys found reasons to laugh and I can just hear Peggy’s laugh echoing all over the museum! 🙂 Debbie would say, “Shhhhh! Shhhhh!”

Peggy – you MUST make it back now so we can see the pictures on your phone! Have a blessed trip. School won’t be the same without you. 🙁 We should have recorded your laugh before you left so we could play it every once in a while!

Peggy, I am going into school today to mess with the stuff on your desk. Think about that. It should distract you for a while.

Not even going to comment on why you didn’t take a social studies teacher with you. whatever.

Have a great adventure, Peggy. Don’t forget about your assignments. Do your best to visit Bradaptationland if you can while you are in Europe.

Is the red rectangle on that lady’s butt censoring a naughty word, or was she showing her drawers too? (See LloydandLauren.com)

I think she was wearing buttless chaps to the museum… Brad used photoshop for decency.

  6. Peggy

My name is Peggy and I’m a blogoholic.

(How will I ever survive without checking in here daily?)

Thanks for hanging out with me yesterday Brad, especially in my delicate condition.

Talk to ‘ya all in a few weeks …

    Arrivederci i miei caro amici!
