Delayed

Today is Beth’s birthday! Happy Birthday, Beth! Yay!

Of course I haven’t gotten anything sent to her. I really do enjoy sending a card or a present, but for some dang reason I just can’t get them in the mail on time. I started thinking about Beth’s birthday a week and a half ago. That would have been plenty of time to get something sent. But I didn’t do it. In my defense, it is the single most busiest time of the school year. (can you say ‘most busiest’?) But really, I should have been able to send something.

A couple of years ago, my friend Laura from church gave me a card box. She is a big fan of sending greeting cards of all kinds. She saw some card boxes on clearance and bought all of them. Not knowing what to do with them all, she gave me one. I didn’t do anything with it for a long time, but one time when I was going to get a hilarious birthday card for someone, I thought: Why not buy two? I’ve done that a few times now, and now I have a small stash of cards. Thank you, Laura!

But I still can’t seem to get things sent in time for peoples’ birthdays! Sheesh!

Sitting untouched...

Stop being so honest about all this and blame the delays on the postal service, like most other folks do when checks and such are “delayed”. Yea…that/s the ticket!

Lovely card box, by the way. Now all you need is to add dividers for every month so you’ll see the cards you want to send when you want to send them. If you affix a return address label to the upper left corner of the front of the envelope and a “forever” stamp to the upper right corner so soon as you get them, then the only thing left to do when the time comes is address the envelope and get out your “love, Brad” stamp (you do have one of those, right?) and you should be good to go! Nothing says “I love you” like a stamped signature, I always say – but, hey…they want a card from you sometime around their special day? That’s the price they just might have to pay!

I think that when you start sending birthday presents, mark that they are for the person’s next birthday. Beth’s 36 today, right? Write ‘Happy 37th!’ and you’ll be so incredibly early, you’ll look super-thoughtful.

Happy Birthday Beth!! 36 & 38 are the best ages ever!!!

That card box looked as big as a toy box at first…until I noticed that it’s not even as high as the woodwork.

I only know of once when a present from you came on time, which was on Daniel’s birthday. The weird thing is you’re so used to getting your presents sent late was the card said;happy late birthday Daniel!

I’d like a crystal to hang form my rear view mirror. When you get around to it.

I should also have said thanks. For remembering, but also for not posting about August 28 as Ned’s deathiversary. 🙁
