I will be setting up an aquarium in my new classroom. I really enjoy having fish, and I think it’s nice for the kids as well. If they are interested, I can tell them about aquarium-keeping, and maybe a new hobby will be born. Even if they aren’t interested in fish as a hobby it can be of benefit, because kids often thoughtlessly torment the fish, and it becomes a teachable moment to discuss kindness and empathy to other living creatures.
My old aquarium in Maui is in my former co-worker Megan’s room. She has a camping theme in her room, and it is her “lake”. Ha! I love it! She sent me an update picture. She added decorations. They’re great!
God bless you for teaching kindness to creatures. Children need to hear that from someone, and I think many don’t hear that from anyone.
