It’s been raining here all week. People are saying that it’s been a long, long time since it rained this much. I’m glad to see the rain though, because there’s been a drought here.
Yesterday was finally a dry day, and on my way to take my trash can from the curb to the back of my house I saw something growing in the planter by the garage. I don’t know what it is, but it has pale leaves, and it’s about to bloom. I’m so curious to see what it is!

The planter itself isn’t looking great. It’s over-grown and I turned the sprinkler system off, so some of the plants died.

But many of the plants are still growing. Look! Strawberries!

While I was outside, I went in back to look at the plants there. The hyacinths are pushing through the soil are they going to bloom in January?

The big surprise was the side yard. It’s been a swath of featureless dirt, but look what the rain did:

It’s covered with moss! It’s magical!
Such glorious blooms in January! I see that your green thumb has affected an entire state. I really like the side yard – and you’re right: it’s magical!
Did you say you were going to cut that palm tree down?
