Pest Control

I had just gotten home yesterday when someone knocked on my door. It was a pest control guy. He started talking about my neighbors at first, and I thought maybe he needed access to my back yard or something, but I soon realized he was there to sell me his service.

I normally say no in such situations, but honestly, I wanted to have regular pest control, and this guy was standing there, and it was so much easier than trying to call some place and schedule something . I signed up.

He scheduled my first appointment for today, but yesterday evening I got a text from a technician asking if he could come right away. I said yes.

And now my house is sprayed for bugs.

I don’t have any pictures of bugs or of the guy spraying, so here are some pictures of yesterday’s sunrise:

I think I’m ok with a bug person coming and spraying. We’ve been doing pest control on our own, but we have an ant invasion at least once a year. Kudos for getting a professional.

What are all the towers in the second photo? Bridge? Construction?

That’s the largest most active sea port in the US. It’s astonishingly huge. It has the scariest bridge I’ve ever driven across. And it’s where all your favorite things from China arrive in the states.

Why do I have concern now about you going to sleep in your house right after bug remediation? And what sort of pests was he spraying for: rodents? insects? everything?!

I’m still a big fan of inside-and-outside-treatment with Terro for ants and a large black cat for rodents. Both have been amazingly effective in the past, at least.

As it turns out, this company advertises itself as using “safer” kinds of chemicals. I asked about having a cat in the house, and the guy said it was fine once the spray was dry.

He was spraying for bugs. Since it’s warmer year-round, I’m assuming there are more here than what I saw in Baltimore. I know there are Black Widow spiders here, which I’m not so interested in meeting. And termites are always a concern around these parts. At least there aren’t any giant venomous centipedes, like there were in Hawaii.
