Plant Pleasures

Saturday is my day to do nothing work-related. Yay!

Yesterday I went to my favorite garden center, and they had a variety of dieffenbachia I had never seen, called “Reflector”. It has dark green velvety-looking leaves, with bright green speckles on it. I was spell-bound. It was only $11. I got it. Yay!

This is the first dieffenbachia I’ve ever owned. I’m almost 54 years old, and I’ve never owned a dieffenbachia. Weird.

Anyway, when I got home, I was feeling all garden-y, so I watched some tutorials on what to do with roses in this area during the winter. Apparently, in January, you’re supposed to cut them down to sticks. This sort of makes them pretend like they’re dormant, and then when “spring” comes in February (or whenever spring comes here – I don’t know because last year was weird), the roses burst into new growth and are covered with flowers.

That sounded awesome, so I cut my roses.

Today is a big grading day. Prayers would be appreciated.

Ahhhh….. a day of rest. I’m glad you had that before today, and yes – I will pray that your grading day goes well. Thank you for asking that of us.

    Also, don’t feel too bad – I am54 years old and I’ve never owned a dieffenbachia. 😉

Just paused in my internet surfing to lift prayers for your grading experience today – it’s 2:15 your time, so I imagine you are in the thick of it as I type. Asking the Lord to guide that red pen (so to speak – I know that color has been “banned” for ages already) to accurate assessment of effort and product and still allow you some time to rest and refresh this evening, followed by a good night’s sleep. In fact, a good night’s sleep sounds good to me as well; that’s been alluding/eluding? me for a bit lately…

Thank you for your prayers. I had my usual troubles getting started, but I got myself organized and ready to grade, and then looked at the clock. It was 2:15. Coincidence? I don’t think so 🙂
