Fun Field Trip

Our middle school went on a field trip yesterday. We went to an old-timey theater with a theater organ in it.

The organ is actually from another theater that was being demolished in the sixties, and was moved to this theater, which is old, but didn’t originally have an organ. It’s an authentic silent-movie-era organ… a Mighty Wurlitzer.

The inside of the theater is charming.

The organ itself is amazing. They’ve painted it with blacklight paint so you can see the parts move when they’re playing.

We did a sing-along, and then they played an old silent movie for us, while the organ guy supplied all the sounds.

Then they played a Laurel and Hardy movie with sound. We all laughed.

What a fun time!

Wow! The organ is right up front! The blacklight paint was a great idea. I just skimmed through a little video about it to see it in action: https://youtu.be/2k9P1lqyPuE?si=hADCSf2GcZREsDfs&t=66

It’s not even NLSW and you are doing such fun stuff? Crazy!
