New Couch

I got a new couch while my family was here. I’ve been looking for one for a long time. In my shopping experience, couches either look good or are comfortable. It’s hard to find one that is both. I did find one at Crate and Barrel, but it was $1500. I decided to wait a little and not get that one. More recently, I had seen one at IKEA. It wasn’t as comfortable as I might’ve liked, but it did at least look good. But by the time I decided to buy it, the only color they had left was white. Yikes! It would look like junk within a week!

Then as we were shopping last Friday, I saw it again. And it was on sale! Normally $450, now $300. That’s pretty dang cheap. It was still only offered in white, but now I wondered if I couldn’t just dye the cover. IKEA stuff all requires assembly anyway, so I could easily put the cover in a washing machine with some dye.

So I bought it! Woo hoo!

Coverless.

Now I just have to decide what color to dye it. I’m working on some samples that are sold as placemats but are the same material as the couch cover. I’ll post them when they’re all ready.

I suggest that you tea-stain it. Then pop-stain it, then Carnation-Instant-Breakfast stain it. Then wine-stain it. That way it will really hide any dirt or stains that may accumulate.

Your projects always look & sound fun, like a vacation … and my projects always seem so … so … so projecty … so much like work … stupid, boring work, not fun or exciting … why must this be? I will now call you this @$#* in my head.

Nice couch!! And it looks like it fits too … I mean that you can lay (or is it lie) all the way down on it with no parts extending off. A must for any couch! Please bring samples to work …

When we bought our Civic we told the salesman that we didn’t really care about the color as long as it wasn’t black or white. The only two colors they had left. We picked black.
