Yesterday was the Greek Festival at St. Demetrios. There are a few festivals during the year. Each Greek Orthodox church takes turns hosting. I go to all of them. Several of my students dance for these, so it’s fun to see them. And the food is GREAT.
I didn’t get to spend much time at this particular Greek Festival because I was at school for a while yesterday, but I did get to see some kids dancing. Of course the only picture that wasn’t blurry or blocked by walkers-by doesn’t have the girl I know in it, but it’s the thought that counts.
Sadly, the calamari was gone by the time I got there; it’s some of the best calamari I’ve ever eaten. But I got a nice gyro. And the visit is not complete without some loukamades (loo-ka-ma’-dis). They are like little balls of funnel cake that are soaked in honey and sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon. Mmmm…
Halo 3 progress report: The galaxy was saved at 5:24pm on Sunday, September 30. Tears were shed. Now on to “Heroic” level…
I couldn’t understand anything you wrote. It sounded like Greek to me.
hehehe
You couldn’t lick the container because you had already sopped up every drop of sweetness with the dough as you ate them – don’t think I didn’t notice buster!
My kids were more disturbed watching you eat the gyro! David said, “He’s destroying that thing!”
It sounds to me like your weekend was just a little too exciting!
I used to work at St. Demetrios’ & they have a group of retired men that meet twice a week to do “guy” stuff around the church, but they spend most of their time cooking. The would invite me & the other girl down for a HUGE breakfast & then later for a HUGE lunch! It was Unbelievable!
I missed all of the Halo postage because of the wedding party, so let me officially say, keep playing. You can sleep when you’re dead.
