Laziness Always Wins

I have said that if I wrote an autobiography, I would call it “Laziness Always Wins”. I’m on the couch watching TV and I get hungry for a snack: In the contest between hunger and laziness, laziness always wins. I’m upstairs and I want to wear jeans, but they’re in the dryer in the basement: In the contest between fashion and laziness, laziness always wins. I should go to a social event at church, but I really just want to stay home: In the contest between guilt and laziness… well, guilt trumps everything, so that doesn’t count.

Anyway, my downstairs toilet has been misbehaving for a while. The float in the tank gets stuck and the water continues to run. The only way to stop it is open the lid and pull the float up to stop the water. It’s a big pain, but replacing the toilet guts is a bigger pain. And in the contest between annoyance and laziness, laziness always wins.

I'll fix it someday...

Ha! “Guilt trumps everything.” That is so true! I have a new response for people who try to guilt me into stuff, though – “Guilt is just one step away from resentment.”

“Guilt trumps everything.” That’s Mom’s fault.

When it comes to guilt, it’s always a mom’s fault.

I’ll be very disappointed in you if you don’t fix your toilet before June 26.

      As will I

Consider it done. Guilt trumps everything. Hehe…

I’ve been manually pulling up the float in the tank in our toilet for 8 months now. In fact, I have to go do it now.

And when they make your autobiography into a movie…who will play you? Do you ever think about that? I do. All the time. I mean I think about who I would want to play me in my movie.

I pick Owen Wilson or John Krasinski for you in your movie & of course Adam Sandler as Lloyd.

(in case you don’t know who he is…he’s in the office)

I will have Helen Hunt play me.

“Guilt Trumps”…I believe was a memory verse from Religion class in grade school.

on top of that, it’s not guaranteed to work. We’ve replaced our toilet guts a couple of times, and it just won’t work right.

You KNOW you are a slave to laziness when fixing a toilet float isn’t high enough on the list to take care of…I mean, we kinda use that device daily, no?

    Ha. Slave to laziness. Ironic.

…and grandmothers can make one feel “the guilt that trumps all”, too. Apparently nobody ever met my maternal one?

  9. Mom

What’s this about Mom and guilt?
    Your Mother heh,heh
